 My Deployment Day!

My agenda today is an introduction to the school where I will teach. Because Nia and I came from different universities and study programs, we were placed in different schools.  In the morning Ma'am Dilag picked us up from the hostel in Dumangas and took us to ISAT U BNC. There we had a meeting for a while and then we rushed to the placement school.

The first school we went to was the elementary school where Nia would teach, which was at Jalaud Elementary School.

This school is located right in front of ISAT U BNC. We met the principal of the school, Sir Gulermo. We are there to convey the purpose of the program as well as the length of time we will teach there. We also determine what subjects Nia will teach. Nia has science subjects, so Nia's coordinating teacher is Ma'am Icell. Ma'am Icell is the 5th grade teacher of the obedient.

Next we went to the school where I was going to teach. Because I come from a chemistry education study program, where I should teach high school. But because in the Philippines aspects of chemistry have been taught since junior high school, so I was placed in a secondary school.

The school where I teach is Jose Monfort National Science High School, which is located not far from ISAT U BNC and can be reached on foot. At this school I met Ma’am Adelina as the school principal, Ma'am Jell and Ma'am Rosie as my cooperating teacher.

Because Nia and I were placed in different schools, our schedule was Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday at Jose Monfort National Science High School and Thursday and Friday at Jalaud Elementary School. School hours in the Philippines are almost the same as school hours in Indonesia. Schools in the Philippines enforce full-day hours. If in Indonesia full day school starts at 7 am to 3 pm, then in the Philippines it is slightly longer, namely, 7.30 am to 5 pm.
