DAY 18 - 2nd TEACHING DAY

My 2nd Teaching Day

Today is the second day of teaching demo in grade 7 Sampaguita. The class starts at 10 o'clock, and begins with prayer and greetings led by one of the students. After that I began the lesson by asking how the students were doing.

I conveyed my apperception with the recalling material that I taught yesterday, namely about solutions. Because yesterday's material is the foundation needed for the discussion of today's material (unsaturated and saturated solution), as well as to check students' understanding. Followed by delivering goals in accordance with what is in the Daily Lesson Log, and conveying the benefits of learning unsaturated and saturated solutions in daily dreams as motivation to students.

The learning model I use is still the same, namely the 5E learning cycle. The first syntax is Engagement, I did a demonstration of a lot of sugar dissolved in water. Then will the question "What will happen if we dissolve too much sugar in a cup of water?", the answers of students vary. I'll continue by playing a video about unsaturated and saturated solutions.

In the Exploration syntax I divided students into groups, groups that were formed the same as yesterday. Then I gave instructions regarding the experiment conducted today and gave students' worksheets. In the Explanation syntax, I help guide each group. Followed by the presentation of their work in front of the class ole representatives of reporters. I give an evaluation in the form of a quiz.

After class, Ma'am Rosie gave an evaluation related to the learning I delivered. The thing I need to pay attention to is related to time management. Because the learning I do is in the form of group work, more time is needed. While the limit of class hours is only 1 hour, so I must be able to complete it within that time limit. It is slightly different in Indonesia, each subject has a duration of 2 x 45 minutes or 3 x 45 minutes, so teachers have enough time to organize groups. In addition, Ma'am Rosie also gave appreciation regarding the teaching demo that I did, she said that I already have the skills to use ICT in learning. In addition, the concepts I provide and the simple students' worksheet make it easy for students to understand. She also said that I am energetic and passionate in teaching. Ma'am Rosie also suggested that I create rubrics/criteria in doing group work and reporting. Because criteria and rubrics can help students develop their self-discipline and establish teamwork.
